About Us

Cottage Grove Elementary School serves students in PreK through fifth grades and is part of South Washington County Schools. Staff, students and parents at Cottage Grove Elementary School work together to make every student feel valued and respected.

There are many programs to help all students succeed at Cottage Grove Elementary School including Reading Recovery and Americorps Reading and Math Tutors. In addition, all third, fourth and fifth-grade students are taught Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) strategies to help them develop organization and study skills.

In 2017, Cottage Grove Elementary School was recognized by the Minnesota Commissioner of Education for being one of only four elementary schools to meet Minnesota’s goal of reducing the achievement gap by 50 percent in both math and reading.

Students at Cottage Grove Elementary School have many opportunities to take part in fine arts through participation in art, band, choir and orchestra. There are also a variety of clubs for students to join.

Community involvement is important at Cottage Grove Elementary School. There is an active Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) and several community-building events throughout the year
